If you did not apply for the credit card, it’s fraud. Run your free credit reports from annualcreditreport.com or call them toll free at 1-877-322-8228 for all 3 free reports. If there is something on the report you’re not aware of, dispute it immediately. You should also put it on fraud alert through Trans Union Fraud Dept. Their toll free # 1-800-680-7289. They will notify the other 2 bureaus and must be renewed every 90 days in order to keep it active.

If you are truly a victim of credit fraud, you are required to file a police report to support your claim. If you don’t file the report, your creditors will not believe a word you say about your fraud case.
